What is advocacy? It’s the process by which ordinary citizens band together to make their needs known to their elected representatives.
AIM needs advocates to educate legislators about the needs of the melanoma community.
Like other cancers, melanoma is a complex problem that will take major amounts of money and research to solve. The largest single source of money and medical research in the world is the United States Federal Government.
AIM was instrumental in securing a $4 million appropriation from the Department of Defense for dedicated melanoma/skin cancer research.
In order for this appropriation to be continued in the upcoming years we will need to continue to advocate our cause in Washington, D.C. Legislative advocacy leads to both federal research funding and greater awareness.
AIM needs your support!
