My mother was my best friend. I told her everything and asked for advice on anything! She was a kind, loving, and warm person that could light up a room in a second. Everyone wanted to be around her and her laugh made everyone laugh. She was a wonderful mother, wife, and most of all grandmother.
When she first saw the mole on her ankle back 10 years before she passed, we never in a million years thought this is what would end her life. She went 7 years with no cancer. Then she found a lump in her leg. The cancer had spread to her lymph nodes and cause a tumor to form in her leg. I never really knew the prognosis of this type of cancer (even then when it had spread). She was scanned every three months for 3 years. On November 15, 2007, she went in for an MRI because she had been fainting. She had several melanoma lesions in her brain and it was not operable. She passed away on January 10, 2008.
I know her biggest regret was not being able to see her grandchildren grow up. She never got to meet my son but he has her bright blue eyes.
She was a fantastic person and will always be in my heart.
