How’s it Growing?

AIM at Melanoma is honored to have been selected by the Matthew Hill Foundation to be a benefitting charity in the 2022 No-Shave November campaign.

As the name suggests, No-Shave November is an annual event during which participants forgo shaving and other hair trimming in order to raise awareness and funds for cancer research and education. Men and women participate by growing a beard, letting their legs go natural, cultivating a mustache, forgoing a haircut, or skipping that waxing appointment—and donating the amount they save in time and money to No-Shave November. The campaign aims to raise awareness and funds by giving up grooming in honor of those who no longer can.

The November hair-growth tradition had been around for years, but the children of Matthew Hill, who passed away from colon cancer back in November 2007, formalized the ritual through their own non-profit and the launching of what is now a global campaign to raise money for selected cancer charities doing great work. All funds raised by No-Shave November go to these charities. AIM at Melanoma is one of 13 charities chosen for 2022.

“We’re hoping our name helps bring more awareness to these incredible organizations,” said Monica Hill, Matthew Hill Foundation, Inc. President. “No-Shave November has become synonymous with fundraising for cancer, and we are extremely proud of that. If we can get our donors to see these nonprofits doing groundbreaking work from prevention to survivor support to researching for a cure…we think that will make a lasting impact.”

We are thrilled to be a part of this national campaign not just because of the funds that will be raised for research, but also because it brings our prevention and early detection messages to a new slice of the general public.

Even if you missed the beginning of the campaign, you can still participate for the last week, or you can simply make a donation. Go to www.no-shave.org/donate/ and choose AIM at Melanoma in the “Select Partnership” drop-down menu.

Please make a note in your calendar on November 1, 2023, to ensure you participate next year!
