Jeri Hutton, Stage IV

Diagnosed: 12/04/06

I was diagnosed with stage 3 Malignant Melanoma on Dec. 04, 2006 when I was 34 years old. Nearly a year and a half later I was stage 4 with mets. to the liver after being treated for a year in a vaccine clinical trial. After they found 2 lesions on my liver and having progressed to stage 4, I went to UCSF to meet before the board and decided on Bio Chemo. It’s been nearly 10 years since my original diagnosis and there is no evidence of the disease at this time. They have removed a few more melanomas, but these were caught early at stage 1. I now only see an Oncologist yearly for check up and blood work, and Dermatologist every 6 mo. Having two young son’s ages 2 and 6 at initial diagnosis and now 11 and 15, I am very thankful to be here with them and my husband who supported me the whole way. I was and continue to be an ER Nurse at Maui Memorial Medical Center and am very thankful for the support I received from my workplace during my battle as well.
