My father was active and healthy and only 48 years old when he passed away from melanoma in 1995. He had a short, brutal, but graceful fight.
He ran marathons, was a member of the local running club, lifted weights, farmed, skied, and much more. He was also active in his community with our church, the Lions Club, and various other organizations. Most importantly, he was a great father and husband.
I became involved with The Schlip Melanoma Foundation in 2008 and volunteered for both the walk and golf tournament that year. I want to encourage others to donate their time or money for both awareness and research so we can move closer to a cure so that nobody else has to lose their father, mother, son, daughter, sister, brother, uncle, aunt, niece, nephew, cousin, grandparent, or grandchild to this horrible disease. Please help us fight!
