Jakob Chromey

Jakob was in his 4th year at Georgia State University studying Film and Media. His minor, political science. Jakob was an avid gamer and biggest basketball fan I’ve ever known. When Melanoma got a hold of him he had to leave college due to brain mets leaving him with hemiparesis, after months of daily rehab he was able to walk again but never gained use of his left arm, the first thing he noticed he couldn’t move that awful night we learned of his diagnosis. In the 2 years of his Melanoma fight he found a love of comic books. Every Wednesday he and I would get lunch somewhere then go to his favorite Comic Book store in downtown Lawrenceville to pick up his 8-15 preordered new releases for that week. He loved Marvel superheroes. Little does he know, he was and will always be my superhero. His strength and resilience endless. Jakob ended up getting diagnosed with hydrocephalus and leptomeningeal disease in January 2025 and lost his battle almost 2 years to the date of his diagnosis. We lost our Jakob January 16, 2025. He was 23.
