Joyce was an amazing friend to many people.
In 2004, she was diagnosed with Stage II Melanoma. After her diagnosis, she became a true Melanoma Warrior. She spent countless hours promoting awareness and raising money for melanoma research.
She was President of The Schlip Fundraising Chapter in Springfield , IL the last 2 years of her life.
During that time, she created the Practice Sun Safety kid’s coloring book to educate children on the importance of protecting themselves from the sun.
She developed the first Faces of Melanoma board that has been duplicated many times and is used across the country at various melanoma fundraising events and health fairs.
Joyce also opened the Café Press online store for melanoma awareness items – The Schlip Battling Melanoma – to support research.
Her legacy to the melanoma community continues… and she will be deeply missed!
