On June 9th, 2010, my wonderful husband and my best friend lost his battle to this ugly disease after a hard 16 month fight. With the help of our Lord he was able to face each day and step of his journey with an attitude that helped him make it through each treatment and each day with no complaints and the will to keep up the fight. What started as a spot on his scalp spread to the bone and brain as well as other parts of his body with no way of stopping it. When the pain became so bad that it hurt to touch him he would just say “It is what it is” or “I was given another day.”

We were not sure if he would be able to make the walk in 2010 but he woke up that day better than he had been in weeks. We went to the walk and family, co-workers, friends, customers and competitors were there walking in his honor and he had the best day surrounded by everyone. He kept telling me over and over what a good day it was. This was his last really good day. Things progressively got worse and then one month later I was telling him good-bye.

The selfish part of me wants my husband and best friend back, wants my kids’ dad back and our grandson’s Papa back more than anything but my heart knows he’s in a much better place and he’s healthy.

Honey, we love you and you will be forever missed!
